Paint Protection Film & Clear Bra in Austin
Clear, self-healing urethane film that takes the rock chips, road rash and light scratches so your paint does not. Front end packages or full vehicle coverage.
How much does PPF cost in Austin?
Paint protection film in Austin ranges from about $1,100 for a partial front package to around $1,800 or more for a full front (bumper, full hood, fenders and mirrors) and roughly $5,000 to $8,000 for full vehicle coverage. The price depends on the vehicle, the film and how much of the car is covered.
Stop Rock Chips Before They Happen
Central Texas highways are hard on paint. Gravel trucks on 183 and 130, construction zones across the metro and hail-season debris all send stones into bumpers and hoods. Paint protection film is a clear, thick urethane layer that absorbs those impacts so the paint underneath stays intact.
Most modern films are self-healing: light swirl marks and scuffs disappear with sun or warm water. PPF comes in gloss, which is nearly invisible, and matte or satin, which turns gloss paint into a satin finish while protecting it.

Where the Chips Actually Happen
The front bumper, hood leading edge, mirrors and the lower doors behind the front wheels take nearly all the damage, which is why front end packages are the most popular starting point.
- Paint corrected before film if there are existing swirls
- Edges wrapped around panels where the design allows
- Seams placed where they are hard to see
- Optional ceramic coating over the film for easy washing
- Aftercare guidance for the first week of curing
PPF vs Ceramic Coating vs Vinyl Wrap
They solve different problems, which is why many owners combine them.
| Paint protection film | Ceramic coating | Vinyl wrap | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main job | Stops rock chips and scratches | Makes paint glossy and easy to clean | Changes the color or look |
| Thickness | Thick urethane film | Microscopic layer | Thin vinyl film |
| Rock chip protection | Yes | No | Some |
| Self-heals light swirls | Most films, with heat | No | No |
| Typical life | About 7 to 10 years | About 2 to 5 years | About 4 to 7 years |

Frequently Asked Questions
For cars driven on the highway every day, usually yes. A single repaint of a front bumper and hood can cost as much as a full front PPF package, and film preserves the factory paint that buyers pay more for.
PPF goes on bare, clean paint. A ceramic coating is applied on top of the film, not under it. Clear PPF over a vinyl wrap is possible in some cases but uncommon.
Older films did. Modern urethane films resist yellowing, and the manufacturer warranty on the film usually covers it. Ask which film is quoted and what its warranty says.
A full front usually takes 1 to 2 days and a full vehicle 3 to 5 days, including prep and any paint correction.
